A local man is dead and a local woman is in the hospital after a shooting Monday in the Holly Heights area in East Gainesville.

Authorities have not found the suspected shooter or the firearm used, said Alachua County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Art Forgey.

At about 2 p.m. Monday, deputies found both victims shot in the 6800 block of S.W. Fourth Place, according to a press release.

The deputy who first arrived at the scene gave the victims first-aid care until an ambulance took them to a local hospital, Forgey said.

The man, later identified as Isadore Lee, 26, died at the hospital Monday night, he said. The woman, Lakeya Steward, 28, is being treated for a gunshot wound that is currently not believed to be life-threatening.

Forgey said he could not release the name of the hospital because the shooter has not been caught. The incident began with an argument between a few people, and it ended when someone pulled out a gun and started to shoot, according to the release.

Officers with Gainesville Police helped the sheriff’s office secure the Holly Heights area afterward.

Deputies searched the area Monday but have faced obstacles, Forgey said.

“Some of the witnesses are scared and not fully cooperating at this time,” he said.

A $1,000 reward has been set for anyone who offers information on the shooting that leads to an arrest and the seizing of the weapon used.
