Roland Thornqvist looks on as his team competes in singles during its win against South Florida on Jan. 27, 2016, at the Ring Tennis Complex.

The last few matches, Florida has either dropped the doubles point or won close matches in singles.

Today, the Gators reverted back to the way they played at the start of the season, winning in dominating fashion.

The No. 13 Florida (10-2, 5-0 Southeastern Conference) women’s tennis team defeated Ole Miss (8-4, 1-4 SEC) 4-0 in Oxford at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Complex.

“I think we played great from start to finish. I was especially proud of how we competed at the end of those close sets,” UF coach Roland Thornqvist said in a release. “The courts were super slow and we had to adjust by rolling more balls than what we perhaps normally do.”

The Gators jumped out to an early doubles lead.

The No. 7 tandem of sophomore Brooke Austin and junior Kourtney Keegan defeated the No. 47 duo of Arianne Hartono and Mai El Kamash 6-2.

No. 58 sophomore Anna Danilina and senior Brianna Morgan sealed the win with a 6-2 victory over Zalina Khairudinova and Marija Milutinovic to earn the doubles point.

The Gators kept the momentum in singles play.

Junior Spencer Liang jumped on the board early with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Milutinovic.

No. 81 Danilina finished not too long after, defeating Khairudinova 6-2, 6-4 to give Florida the 3-0 lead, with only one more match needed to win.

And that point came from No. 5 Belinda Woolcock.

The junior played No. 79 Natalie Suk close in the first set, winning it 7-5.

The second set was all Woolcock, though, as she would go on to take the match 7-5, 6-1 and give Florida the victory.

With the victory, Florida moved to a perfect 5-0 SEC record. But they still have to play the majority of their SEC schedule.

Florida will travel across the state to take on No. 22 Mississippi State at 2 p.m.
