Starting today, Gainesville’s local dining scene comes together for the third-annual Restaurant Week.

Hosted by the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, the event will feature more than 25 restaurants, breweries, wineries and more.

The event will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, and it will run from various times every day through June 25 at the University Air Center, located at 3880 NE 39th Ave.

Admission is $15 per person, per day.

“Restaurant Week is a great, tasty celebration for the public,” said Alyssa Brown, the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce communications director. “They look forward to it every summer.”

Brown said Restaurant Week was created to ease the slow down local businesses receive during the summer, and there is a real benefit from it.

“Restaurants create special deals for this event, so there may be deals and dishes that you can’t get any other time in the year,” Brown said.

Emiliano’s Cafe has participated in the event for the past three years.

“It’s an opportunity for us to drive a little more business during the slower summer hours,” said Diego Ibañez, Emiliano’s Cafe general manager. “For us it’s a no-brainer to support Restaurant Week and be involved with it.”

Ibañez said the restaurant will have drink specials each day of the event and live music.
