After ‘rough weekend,’ Kentucky fan shoplifted at local Target

Gainesville Police is asking for help identifying a University of Kentucky fan who stole from the local Target Friday.

The woman, wearing a dark blue shirt reading “UK2K,” stole $190 worth of items from the Archer Road store and later returned it as a fraudulent transaction, according to a GPD statement.

The stolen merchandise included a large package of diapers and a baby sling, according to the statement.

She then left in a black Toyota Camry, which was caught on camera, according to the statement. Target staff have also identified the woman as being responsible for another incident in April.

GPD received some tips on the woman’s identity, but none have panned out, said Ben Tobias, the department’s spokesman. On Monday, he posted a statement on the GPD Facebook page asking for help finding the Kentucky fan, whom he said “had a rough weekend” following the UF Football Team’s 45-7 triumph Saturday.

As of press time, the Facebook post has been shared almost 200 times.

“In the spirit of football, it was a chance to just add some levity to the post,” Tobias said.

Anyone with information on the woman is asked to call 352-955-1818 with information or text keyword GPDFL plus a tip to 274637.
