Smith Meyers, a 22-year-old UF food and resource economics senior and the Impact Party candidate for Student Body president, delivers his acceptance speech in front of Century Tower for a crowd of more than 50 people. Meyers stated that "character is what will guide how I lead this campus forward."

In front of Century Tower on Wednesday, Impact Party announced who will be on its Spring 2017 executive ticket.

About 50 students wearing blue Impact shirts cheered as Impact Party President Janae Moodie announced Smith Meyers, 22, for Student Body president; Mario Agosto, 21, for Student Body vice president; and Revel Lubin, 21, for Student Body treasurer.

Meyers, a UF food and resource economics senior, is currently the Student Senate president and has been a senator for four years. He was Senate pro-tempore from February 2016 to October 2016.

“I promise the Student Body that character is what will guide how I lead this campus forward,” he said.

Agosto spoke about attending UF with a Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarship, which is offered to first-generation students from low income families. He has never been involved in SG but is the Hispanic Student Association president and a Florida Cicerone.

“I want to give back as much as I can,” he said.

Lubin said he’s had SG leadership roles as an executive cabinet director and Impact’s treasurer. He’s a Black Student Union member and Florida Cicerone.

Student Body President Susan Webster said she’s mentored the candidates, and their backgrounds and leadership roles form a strong ticket.

“I cannot think of three better individuals to continue moving Gators forward and work on behalf of the students,” she said.

Impact has not released an official platform, Meyers said.

Access Party didn’t run in Fall elections, according to Alligator archives.

Elections will take place Feb. 21 and Feb. 22 from 8:30 a.m to 8:30 p.m.
