A local ice cream shop wants to fill coffee cravings for customers near campus.

SweetBerries Eatery and Frozen Custard, located at 505 NW 13th Street, has extended its hours and now includes breakfast, said store co-owner Jane Osmond.

The new menu includes coffee, scones and bagels. It will be served from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

“We felt like there was a need for some- thing like this in the area we were in,” Osmond, a UF alumna, said.

After noticing customers often came to the restaurant after closing, the decision was made to stay open an extra hour, until midnight, on Fridays and Saturdays.

Amy Bumbaco, 27, said she thinks the extended hours will attract more customers hungry.

“They are close to campus, so I think it would be popular for breakfast,” she said.

Osmond said the restaurant also has plans to build a deck over the in the next month.

The location will celebrate its fourth anniversary in February, she said.

Osmond hopes the deck will be complete in time to celebrate.

“I think it will change the nature of the restaurant a little at night,” she said.
