At about noon, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper pulled over Raynard Vinton Newton, 35, of Tampa, for speeding, tailgating and using the wrong blinker when changing lanes on Interstate 75, according to an arrest report.

When the trooper pulled him over near Micanopy, Florida, the smell of marijuana prompted the the trooper to search the vehicle.

The trooper found a cup with marijuana residue in the center console of Newton’s car, according to the report. In the trunk, the trooper found a large blue plastic container containing clothes and a yellow envelope.

The envelope had pieces of paper with names, dates of birth, social security numbers and unidentified account numbers of 61 people, according to the report. None of this information matched personal information for Newton.

After his arrest, Newton told FHP he got the names and account numbers when he was an employee at Macy’s, according to the report. He said when customers called in he saved their information.

Police arrested Newton on 61 counts of fraudulent impersonation. Authorities took him to Alachua County Jail where he remains, as of press time, in lieu of a $610,000 bond.
