Florida's men's and women's swimming and divings teams are competing at the Auburn Invitational from Friday to Sunday

The Florida men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are in Alabama for their final invitational of the regular season today, the Auburn Invitational.

The men’s team has had a strong dual meet season, finishing with a 7-1 record and is ranked No. 3 in the nation.

The women’s team heads to Auburn after dropping its final two dual meets to Tennessee and Auburn, but is still ranked No. 19 with a 4-5 record.

Of the four teams that will compete this weekend at the Auburn Invitational — Florida, Florida State, Auburn and Alabama —the Gators’ ranking is the highest on the men’s side and second-highest on the women’s side. Florida and Auburn are the only women’s teams ranked in the top 25, with Auburn sitting at No. 12.

“We need to make sure we keep the energy up,” freshman swimmer Taylor Ault said. “We need to keep the energy up not just for the relay events so we can develop more momentum.”

The women’s team will look for revenge against Auburn after losing to them by 21 points on senior day.

Some of the swimmers on the men’s team, like senior Ben Lawless, are still trying to improve despite their impressive performances so far.

“I’m still trying to improve on turns, strokes, starts and finishes,” Lawless said. “Small technical things like that can make a big difference.”

The invitational will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday with the 200 free relay.
