A Gainesville man was arrested Thursday and faces a charge of attempted murder after he fired at a stopped car on March 31, Gainesville Police said.
Dana Dushwan Grant, Jr., 24, drove to an apartment at 1406 SW 18th Place, near the intersection of Southwest 18th Place and Southwest 13th Street, a little after 6 p.m., according to an arrest report.
Grant exited his car and shot a handgun at least 13 times at a car, then drove away, according to the report.
None of the three people in the car were injured, according to the report. Bullets also hit the apartment wall.
Someone inside the apartment overheard the victims saying Grant’s name and told police, according to the report.
Grant was arrested at about 1 p.m. Thursday at Tower Oaks Glen Apartments, located at 6900 SW 21st Lane, on a warrant for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, shooting a deadly missile into a vehicle and three counts of attempted murder, according to the report. An officer searched Grant and found a round of .38 Special ammunition in his pocket, according to the report. He was charged with possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
He was taken to the Alachua County Jail where he remains, as of press time, in lieu of a $1,650,000 bond.
