A woman brought into jail on a warrant is accused of trying to smuggle drugs in her vagina into the facility Friday morning, deputies said.

Kimwana Jernell Brown, 26, of Newberry, was pulled over for speeding on Fort Clarke Boulevard by an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputy, according to an arrest report. The deputy realized Brown didn’t have a valid license, then found a warrant was out for her arrest.

After the deputy arrested Brown, he searched her with the back of his hands because no female deputies were present, the report said. The deputy didn’t find anything illegal, but told Brown she would go through a body scanner in jail.

Brown told him she didn’t have anything on her, the report said.

But when Brown passed through the body scanner, jail staff found dark objects inside her body and noticed she clenched her butt, deputies said.

Deputies conducted a strip search and found 5.2 grams of cocaine and 1.2 grams of pills, which deputies suspect is ecstasy, wrapped in plastic inside her vagina, deputies said.

Brown is charged with one count of possessing cocaine, one count of tampering with evidence, one count of smuggling contraband into a jail, two counts of driving with an invalid license and one count of failure to appear in court.

She is held in Alachua County Jail in lieu of a $65,276 bond.
