Holmes

A man is accused of pointing a gun at another man and then reporting it missing to police was arrested Saturday.

At about 2 a.m., Freddy Lee J. Holmes, 25, of Gainesville, was argued with the victim in the parking lot of a Mobil gas station, at 4234 SW 20th Ave., when he pulled out a Glock, according to a Gainesville Police arrest report.

Holmes placed the barrel of the handgun to the victim’s head, the report said. The victim grabbed Holmes’ wrist and knocked the gun out of his hand.

An unidentified man picked up the gun and left the parking lot, the report said. The victim also left and an employee at the gas station overheard Holmes repeatedly ask where his gun was.

Holmes called the police to report that his gun was missing, the report said.

When police arrived, they reviewed surveillance video and saw the incident, the report said.

Holmes did not have a concealed carry permit and did not talk to police after he was arrested, the report said.

Holmes was charged with concealing an unlicensed firearm and improperly exhibiting a firearm, the report said.

He also had a warrant accusing him of repeatedly punching a man, who he was caring for, after arguing with him while playing basketball in April, according to court records.

Holmes remains in the Alachua County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
