Two Newberry men were killed in a head-on crash today when their vehicles collided on County Road 235.

Evan Finnell, 19, was heading south on County Road 235 in a Mitsubishi Outlander when he collided with Brett Bailey, 60, who was driving north in a GMC Jimmy, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred north of Northwest 6th Place at 4:15 a.m.

Finnell crossed the centerline of the road, according to the release, and the front of both cars collided. Both drivers were pronounced dead on the scene.

Bailey was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report. 

Finnell was a senior defensive end and tackle on Newberry High School’s football team, according to Max Preps. He wore jersey No. 60.
