Police were called to the Bivens Cove apartment complex at 12:31 p.m. on Monday.

Shots were fired at an apartment complex, but there were no injuries.

Gainesville Police were called to Bivens Cove, located at 3301 SW 13th St., after getting a call from residents who reported shots fired, said Sgt. Chuck Dale, an officer for the department who was on the scene. This complex houses UF students and Gainesville residents.

The call was made at 12:31 p.m., said Lt. Audrey Mazzuca. A UF alert was sent 10 minutes later.

Police found 9 mm bullet casings, but they could not find any blood or evidence of any victims, Mazzuca said. The case is still under investigation.

Two officers were leaving the complex when the reporter arrived at about 1 p.m. Four police cars were still at the scene upon arrival, and officers were wearing masks while walking around the area and talking to neighbors.

According to the Gainesville Police Department’s crime log map ranging from a year ago, the area has not had any police activity since last May.
