The University of Florida Police Department is investigating a sexual battery reported to have taken place on campus Friday evening.

According to a UF public safety alert sent to students and faculty early Saturday morning, a male victim reported being near the bat houses on Museum Road between 8:15 p.m. and 10:50 p.m. Friday before he was approached by the suspect.

The suspect, who introduced himself and then tried to hug the victim, became aggressive and pulled him into the bushes, according to the alert. The suspect was last seen heading west from the area.

In the UF alert, the suspect is described to be between 20 and 30 years old, 6-feet tall and weighs about 240 pounds. He is also noted as having short black hair and wearing a blue plaid button-up collared shirt with a dark-colored undershirt before the incident. However, he was last seen wearing only the undershirt.

UFPD is increasing patrols and is currently working on leads to identify the suspect, the alert read. Anyone with information should call UFPD at (352) 392-1111.
