The Florida women’s golf team will start the spring 2021 campaign in Melbourne, Florida, in the Moon Golf Invitational hosted by the University of Louisville.

The Gators will be thrown right into the fire as the tournament features six ranked schools. The No. 8 Gators will battle No. 2 South Carolina, No. 3 LSU, No. 5 Auburn, No. 9 Oklahoma and No. 16 Alabama Sunday through Tuesday.

Jenny Kim leads Florida’s first spring lineup. The junior from Orlando, Florida, gets the nod as the No. 1 golfer after not appearing in any fall lineups. Kim hasn’t appeared in a UF lineup since her freshman season and made only two showings as an individual during her sophomore campaign.

UF’s No. 2 golfer this week, sophomore Annabell Fuller, finished the fall with two top-10 finishes in three tournaments. Senior Addie Baggarly is Florida’s No. 3 and competed in the Arnold Palmer Cup during the Gators’ break between the fall and spring campaigns.

Marina Escobar and Elin Esborn round out the Florida lineup. Escobar had a great fall, which included her best finish as a Gator when she came in third at the East Lake Cup. She also tied for fourth at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.

Esborn is appearing in her first lineup since last spring. She missed all of the fall semester due to COVID-19 travel restrictions in Sweden. She’s returning for her redshirt senior season after appearing in three lineups during her junior spring.

This will be the first time Florida will compete in the Moon Golf Invitational, which has been held at the Duran Golf Club for its four-year history.

Originally a cattle ranch, Duran Golf Club was established in 2005. The 6300-yard, links-style course features rolling terrain, challenging doglegs, potentially score-ruining lakes and a Atlantic Ocean breeze that can affect even the best golfers.

Florida will tee off at 8 a.m. Sunday from the 10th hole. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com
