Santa Fe College COVID-19 update: No COVID-19 positive cases were reported

The college’s total number of reported positive cases since March 2020 is now 757

Santa Fe College reported no positive student or employee COVID-19 cases between May 25 and Monday.

Since March 2020, Santa Fe College has reported a total of 757 positive cases for students and employees — resulting in about a 30.84% positivity rate out of the 2,455 case files opened, according to a report provided by Jen Ambrose, the college’s director of marketing and communications.

Out of all positive cases, 699 were student cases, according to the report, which corrected a previously reported student positive case that was incorrectly reported — the total number of student positive cases was 700 the previous week, according to a May 18 to May 24 report provided by the college’s communications manager Jay Anderson.

A total of two case files were opened — both were student files, according to the report provided by Ambrose.

Santa Fe College does not require students or employees to routinely test for COVID-19, Anderson wrote in an email.

However, the college encourages students and employees to report COVID-19 symptoms and follow the college’s COVID-19 safety protocols, which include staying home when feeling sick, showing symptoms or after possibly being exposed to COVID-19, Anderson wrote.

As of May 21, masks are no longer required outdoors on campus, and at the start of Summer B, people will not be required to wear masks indoors, according to a press release.
