A 60-year-old man robbed a bank Tuesday after threatening to use a bomb.

At about 1:26 p.m., a man entered the PNC bank, located at 4340 Newberry Road about a mile west of the intersection of West University Avenue and 34th Street, approached the teller and demanded all the $100 and $50 bills.

GPD identified 60-year-old Jay Edward Cocuzzo as the suspect of the crime and arrested him Wednesday.

He told the teller he had a bomb, according to a Gainesville Police Department press release

The teller gave him the money, and the suspect placed the bills in a white plastic bag before fleeing the building.

GPD spokesperson Graham Glover said detectives were able to find Cocuzzo leaving his apartment at the Phoenix Villas Apartments after receiving tips from local residents.

Cocuzzo was charged with one count of robbery and two counts of attempted robbery, according to another release.
