A Fort White man with several active felony warrants was arrested by Gainesville police Tuesday after a call about an armed disturbance.

Trevis Strawder, 27, fled from the passenger side of a silver 2005 Toyota Camry after an argument with an unknown woman at Woodland Park Apartments off of Southeast Williston Road. His black backpack was found in the woods containing loaded handguns and 10 different controlled substances, a Gainesville Police Department news release read.

Strawder is being held at the Alachua County Jail on a bond of $1,632,500. He faces charges of burglary, resisting without violence, giving a false name to law enforcement, possessing two counts of firearms by a convicted felon and receiving several narcotic charges.

As of Wednesday it is unknown where Strawder obtained the firearms and drugs, GPD spokesperson Graham Glover said.

Fleeing from the vehicle after police initiated a traffic stop at SE 20th Street, Strawder ran to the woods nearby, the arrest report read. GPD then made a perimeter to locate and arrest Strawder.

He was arrested at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, and falsely told police his name was Alex Robinson.

This wasn’t Strawder’s first offense this month, however.

He was previously convicted of seven felonies, according to the arrest report, and had three felony warrants for his arrest.

On Aug. 9, Strawder broke into his ex-partners home to steal a power cord and a $300 wig, the arrest report read.

Strawder also entered a hotel room Sunday at Wyndham Garden located at 2900 SW 13th St. with a handgun and demanded three people hand over their phones. The victims told GPD officers they feared for their lives.

He was also charged with warrants of sexual activity with a minor, court records showed.

In the news release, Glover wrote “GPD makes significant gun violence arrests.” He is unsure, however, if the presence of guns can be associated with rising gun-related incidents throughout the city.

“This was a criminal that had a background, outstanding warrants, and engaged in violent incidents,” Glover said. “We have apprehended him. This is a bad guy off the streets.”

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
