A new season of Gators volleyball is closing in, and Florida will start among the top 10 in the nation, according to the American Volleyball Coaches Association preseason poll released Monday.

When the votes were tallied from the AVCA coaches poll, Florida found itself sixth in the standings.

The ranking is the 30th consecutive time the Gators have been voted in the top-15, the third-longest streak in the country behind Nebraska and Stanford. Florida’s remarkable run began in 1992 when the team was voted No. 12.

Florida went 21-4 last season to clinch its 31st appearance in the NCAA tournament. The team finished the year with a 17th appearance in the Regional Final when it fell to No. 1 seeded and undefeated Wisconsin.

The Gators begin the season at the Hornet Invitational in Sacramento, California. They’ll face San Francisco on Aug. 27 then UC Davis and Sacramento State in a double-header the next day.

Florida opens its home schedule against No. 7 Minnesota on Sept. 5.
