Santa Fe College will hold classes and conduct business as usual after receiving anonymous bomb threats Tuesday afternoon.

Santa Fe’s Contact Center received two non-specific bomb threat phone calls at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday, according to an email from SF spokesperson Jay Anderson. College officials closed the campus and cancelled all classes for the evening. Santa Fe Police investigated the threats and found no device on college property.

The college did not believe the threat was credible nor that there were ever any dangerous devices on college property, Anderson wrote in an email.

“The college made the decision to close for the evening to allow the investigation to continue on an empty campus,” Anderson wrote.

Vani Jaishankar, a 21-year-old SF clinical lab science senior, said bomb threats do not surprise her because they were common at Gainesville High School, where she was a student.

Still, Jaishankar is uneasy about returning to campus following the threats.

“I knew they were just gonna shut down the school, but I get nervous to go back on campus,” Jaishankar said.

The investigation will continue, partly because of the four false bomb threats called into Buchholz High School within the last month, Anderson’s email read.

“The investigation is continuing in coordination with law enforcement partners and authorities are taking the matter seriously,” Anderson wrote.
