Santa Fe College reported five positive cases from students from Oct. 19 to Oct. 25. No employees reported testing positive.

The total number of reported cases on campus dropped by nearly 60% when compared to the 12 total cases from the previous week.

There have been 389 reported positive cases since the Delta surge in March 2021, which represents about 36% of all 1,085 cases since the start of the pandemic, according to a report provided by SF director of human resources Lela Frye.

Last week, the college opened 56 student case investigations and six employee case investigations.

Two students — but no employees — have been on campus while positive, according to Frye’s report. There have been no additional reported on-campus exposures or community spread from students or employees.

The college requests all students, faculty and staff perform a daily self-assessment checklist before going to campus. Masks are not required on campus, but the college strongly encourages anyone visiting Santa Fe property to wear a mask indoors, regardless of vaccination status.

The college also requires students who test positive for COVID-19, experience any symptoms, or believe they have come in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 to fill out a confidential online form, disclosing any potential exposure or positive test results.

Santa Fe strongly encourages anyone who can get the COVID-19 vaccine to do so.

As part of the college’s vaccine incentive program, all employees, including full-time and part-time, along with all current students who have received either both shots of the Pfizer, the Moderna vaccine, or one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, by Oct. 31 will receive a one-time $60 incentive.

Students can report their vaccination status during the week of Nov. 1 through Nov. 5, using a Zoom room or visiting designated in-person locations, including the lobby in Student Life, Blount Center, the Davis Center, the Perry Center, the Watson Center in Keystone Heights and the Andrews Center in Starke.

As of Tuesday, 587 employees participated in the vaccine incentive program, President Paul Broadie II said during the College Senate Executive Council meeting. President Broadie also said the college is considering launching a spring vaccine incentive program, as well.
