Gainesville High School evacuated students to the school’s baseball field after a bomb threat Monday morning.

At about 11:30 a.m., Gainesville Police Department school resource officers called for nine additional GPD officers to the school, including the University Police Department’s bomb dogs, Gainesville Police Department spokesperson Graham Glover said.

GPD officers cleared the school at about 2 p.m., Glover said. GPD did not find anything at the school and they are still investigating the threat.

ACPS was notified about the threat after the school evacuated students, Alachua County Public Schools spokesperson Jackie Johnson said.

ACPS tweeted about the threat at 11:57 a.m.

“Parents started lining up to pick up their kids right after the first tweet,” Johnson said.

At about 1 p.m., they released  students who walk, drive or ride bikes to school. They also notified school buses to come early, Johnson said.

The last recorded bomb threat at ACPS was at Eastside High School Oct. 26, Johnson said.

Last Fall, more than 18 gun and bomb threats were made in ACPS schools. At least five ACPS students have been arrested for making threats.
