Former Randolph College men’s head coach Adam Godwin joined the Gators soccer team as an assistant coach, head coach Samantha Bohon announced Friday.

Godwin brings more than 10 years of coaching experience to Florida, including six seasons as an assistant on the Liberty women’s team that went to multiple NCAA Tournaments and recorded the most wins in program history. Godwin, who coached at Randolph since 2018, led the Wildcats to the program’s third-highest all-time win total in 2021.

With his impressive coaching career, Bohon said she knew Godwin would be perfect for the Gators’ staff.

“He’s worked in club, Division 1, Division 3 and even built his own youth academy,” Bohon told floridagators.com. “His passion for the game is undeniable. And, he’s been a winner at every level. Couple his coaching experience with the character and integrity he brings, and he was the perfect fit for the Gators program.”

The Hereford, England, native was also a collegiate player, as he was on the Liberty men’s soccer team for four years. During his playing days at Liberty, Godwin helped the Flames advance to the 2001 Big South Conference Championship match, made the 2004 Big South All-Conference first team and earned a VaSID All-State second team selection.

After college, he was invited to train with the U23 Great Britain squad. He then went on to play professionally at Cheltenham Town Football Club of England’s Football League One, before returning to the states to play for Augusta United of the Premier Development League and the Atlanta Silverbacks Reserve team.

“Finally, it is an honor and privilege to be part of a program with such deep history and prestige,” Godwin said when asked about joining Florida. “I can promise coach Bohon and all of Gator nation that my family and I will give everything we’ve got to ensure the future of this program is as bright as its past.”
