Two Gainesville pedestrians were struck by a car Tuesday morning.
The Gainesville Police Department responded to a report at 10 a.m. in which a driver hit an older woman and her 2-year-old grandchild who were crossing Northwest 10th Avenue and Main Street.
The driver didn’t stop and left both pedestrians with serious injuries. They were transported to UF Health Shands Hospital, GPD spokesperson David Chudzik said.
The two were transported as trauma alerts, Chudzik said, and will continue to be monitored closely.
Law enforcement believes the driver was in a silver Honda Odyssey van. As of Wednesday morning, the driver’s identity is unknown.
Anyone able to provide information about the driver can contact 911 or GPD’s non-emergency line at 352-955-1818.
