UF campus will reopen and classes will resume Thursday following Hurricane Idalia, according to an email sent to students Wednesday afternoon.
The hurricane, which made landfall in Florida Wednesday morning, spared much of Gainesville’s college town allowing UF to make the call for students to return to classes. Along with UF’s main campus, P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School and Baby Gator will also resume normal operations Thursday, according to the email.
UF advised employees to follow recommendations from their local government in regard to staying safe until the storm has passed completely. If an employee has been affected by the storm, they are encouraged to speak to their work supervisor.
Students are also encouraged to talk to their professors about special accommodations if they have been impacted by the storm. If a student is facing financial challenges, UF recommends they visit Aid-a-Gator to apply for a grant.
