UF fraternity member arrested for battery, false imprisonment

He was trespassed from campus

A UF Kappa Sigma fraternity member was arrested Thursday on suspicion of battery, false imprisonment and robbery by sudden snatching.

Carson Botts, 18, was arrested by the Gainesville Police Department at the Kappa Sigma fraternity house, located at 1120 SW 9th Road, after midnight Thursday.

On Wednesday, Botts got into an argument with a woman that turned physical. The woman told officers Botts was intentionally restraining her against her will by getting on top of her and holding her down, according to the arrest report.

While Botts held the woman down, he smacked the inside of her leg and grabbed her phone to look through her messages.

The woman had bruises on her leg, arm and neck, according to the report.

The location of the incident was redacted from police reports.

Botts was trespassed from all UF properties.
