Gators sophomore running back Trevor Etienne announced he will enter the Transfer Portal Thursday.

"Gator nation, what a ride it has been!" he wrote in an Instagram post. "I'm forever grateful for the opportunity to put on the orange and blue every Saturday. At this time, I will be entering the Transfer Portal with two years of eligibility remaining."

Etienne spent his first two seasons with the Gators. He rushed for 753 yards and eight touchdowns on 131 carries. He averaged 5.7 yards per carry. The sophomore running back finished 10th in the SEC in rushing yards and sixth in yards per carry.

In his 2022 season his freshman season, he ran for 719 yards on 118 carries and averaged 6.1 yards per rush.

Etienne arrived at Florida as a four-star prospect in the 247 Composite rankings. He signed with the Gators despite interest from Louisiana State and Clemson. His older brother Travis Etienne starred for Clemson before becoming a first-round NFL draft pick.

The Jennings, Louisiana, native split his carries with junior running back Montrell Johnson Jr. Johnson has yet to announce his future with Florida, but he’d be the featured running back were he to return to Gainesville.

Freshman running back Treyaun Webb will also see an increased role next season. The former four-star recruit from Jacksonville ran for 163 yards and two scores during his freshman season.

The Gators closed their 2023 season with a 5-7 record and a 3-5 record in SEC play.
