A Gainesville man was arrested Sunday night on charges of possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and of drug possession with the intent to sell.
According to the arrest report, a law enforcement officer from the Gainesville Police Department pulled over 25-year-old Devin Berry after he failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign on West Newberry Road. A database search revealed Berry was driving with a suspended license.
During the traffic stop, Berry reportedly exhibited nervous behavior and told police he possessed marijuana and a medical marijuana card. He also told police he sold marijuana and had the substance in his car. When a database search revealed he didn’t have a medical marijuana card status, officers searched Berry’s car.
Inside the car, police found 258.5 grams of dried marijuana, 11.7 grams of methamphetamine and a 9-millimeter handgun, according to the arrest report. Another database search revealed Berry had a felony conviction in 2017 for possession of a firearm while underage.
Berry was arrested and transported to the Alachua County Jail.
