The Miami Marlins have selected Florida pitcher Jake Clemente with the No. 198 pick in the 2025 MLB Draft.
Clemente is the second Gator to be drafted in the 2025 MLB Draft, and the 112th draftee under Kevin O’Sullivan’s tenure.
Clemente spent three seasons with the Gators. He did not play his freshman year due to a shoulder injury.
As a redshirt freshman, he appeared in 19 games with two starts. He finished 2-0 with a 5.34 ERA while recording 39 strikeouts in just over 28 innings.
Clemente saw his role increase as a redshirt sophomore in 2025, as he took over the closing role for Florida midseason. He led the Gators in saves with seven, and posted a career high ERA with 3.46. He tallied 77 strikeouts over 54 innings, earning him a spot on the All-SEC Second Team.
Clemente joins a Marlins team that stands third in the National League East at 44-51. Miami ranks No. 16 among farm systems according to MLB farm rankings. He joins a pitching staff that ranks 24th in the MLB in ERA with 4.58. He has two years of college eligibility remaining if he chooses to return to school.
