Florida defensive back Aaron Gates suffered an arm injury in the first quarter against the Miami Hurricanes and will not return to the contest. He was seen on the sidelines wearing a sling on his left arm.

Gates has a history of injuries at Florida, which began when he suffered an ACL tear against the Ole Miss Rebels on Nov. 9. He spent the entire offseason recovering and made a miraculous comeback, healing up in time to play in Florida's season opener against Long Island on Aug. 30.

"I was just trying to push myself to get back as fast as I can, not trying to rush it, but just want to push myself as much as I can every day to get back," Gates said Aug. 27. "[I] feel good. A long recovery process. Been taking it a day at time all I can do, work as hard as I can."

The redshirt sophomore defensive back had seven tackles entering the Gators' contest against the Hurricanes.

Gates is one of a slew of Florida defensive players dealing with injury.

Florida edge rushers George Gumbs Jr. and LJ McCray are both out indefinitely. Florida defensive lineman Caleb Banks is also out after suffering a foot injury in his season debut against Louisiana State. He missed the first two games due to a lower leg injury and exited in the second half against the Tigers.

Gators defensive lineman Michai Boireau is out for the second straight game. Freshman Jayden Woods made his first career start against the Hurricanes and recorded a sack against Carson Beck in the first quarter.
