A Gainesville man was charged with disturbing the peace and fighting or brawling last night.
Just before midnight, 50-year-old Andrew Wise allegedly pulled the fire alarm in the Holiday Inn and Piesano’s Stone Fired Pizza Restaurant building on West University Avenue.
This caused hotel and restaurant guests to leave the building and Alachua Fire Rescue to respond.
A witness told police there was no fire and she didn’t know why Wise pulled the alarm.
The fire department confirmed there was no fire or emergency.
While patrons were waiting to go back inside the building, Wise was allegedly yelling “violent threats” and punching cars, a witness told police, according to the arrest report.
This and the pulling of the fire alarm caused a disturbance to guests, the witness said in the arrest report.
