No. 8 Florida women’s golf is coming into spring play on a high note. It finished first in its two most recent tournaments, second in the Inverness Intercollegiate and third in the season-opening Cougar Classic. In their most recent tournament, The Ally, the Gators ended with a season-best combined score of 838.

The great play is thanks in part to the consistency throughout the UF lineup. Graduate student Megan Propeck led the way with a 71.4 stroke average, including a first-place finish at the Inverness Intercollegiate and the OU Intercollegiate.

On the other side of the age bracket, freshman Katelyn Huber followed closely with a 71.6 stroke average and a team-best six under-par rounds. She came out strong with an impressive 205 (-8) at her first tournament, the Cougar Classic.

Junior Paula Francisco had two under-par rounds in The Ally, which helped Florida secure the win. She rebounded from a subpar first round, where she went 75 (+3).

Similar to Propeck, sophomore Addison Klonowski had four top-five finishes. She recorded four rounds under par, including a 67 (-4) in the first round of the Cougar Classic. She posted a team-best 210 (-6) and helped Florida secure a third-place finish in The Ally.

Indonesia native and sophomore Elaine Widjaja provided much-needed depth for Florida. She started in the two most recent tournaments and was instrumental in Florida winning The Ally. She helped the Gators get on track by being under par for the first two rounds with a 68 (-4) and a 71 (-1).

Florida travels to Jacksonville for the Sea Best Intercollegiate on Jan. 26. The tournament will be held at the San Jose Country Club with a measurement of 7,043 yards and a par of 72.

Later on in the season, UF will host its 54th Gators Invitational on March 6. Last season, the Gators came in first for the ninth time in the last 10 years.

Overall, they aim to make their second straight appearance at the NCAA National Championship after finishing 17th out of 30 teams last season.
