UF Police Department responds to unattended bag left at Tigert Hall

Campus access was briefly restricted while the bag was cleared by police

UF sent out an alert around 11:30 a.m. Friday regarding an unattended bag left near Tigert Hall.

University Police Department temporarily restricted access to the area out of caution to inspect the bag, said Cynthia Roldán, a UF spokesperson, in an email. Shortly after, UPD deemed the item safe and the owner reclaimed their belongings. A UF alert sent at 11:50 a.m. told students and staff no incident had occurred and they could “resume normal activities.”

“UFPD would like to thank the person who took the time to report this incident,” Roldán wrote. “A safe campus is a vigilant one.”
