Florida is expected to hire Rhode Island’s Tammi Reiss as its next head women’s basketball coach, as first reported by Talia Goodman of On3.

Reiss served as the head coach for the Rams over the past five years after serving as an assistant coach at Syracuse, Cal State Fullerton, San Diego State and Virginia.

This season, Reiss led her team to the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance in 30 years, finishing the season with a 28-5 record and a 16-2 mark in Atlantic 10 conference play.

During her overall tenure at Rhode Island, Reiss led the Rams to a 138-73 record and two Atlantic 10 regular season championships

The New York native played four years of college basketball at Virginia from 1989-92 and was a professional basketball player for the WNBA’s Utah Starzz from 1997-98.

This decision comes two weeks after Florida parted ways with former women’s basketball head coach Kelly Rae Finley March 9.
