The commitments are starting to roll in for Gators men’s basketball.
Florida landed four-star center Kamsi Awaka just over a week after Ian Condon made his announcement to join the program. Awaka is the No. 41 recruit in the 2027 class and boasted offers from Michigan, Connecticut, Arizona and Michigan State.
“I decided to commit to Florida because I was their top priority,” Awaka said to Rivals. “My relationship is great with them and they believe I can develop to reach my full potential.”
Awaka stands at 6-foot-10 with a 7-foot-4 wingspan. He is ranked as the No. 5 center in the nation and New Jersey’s top big man. Awaka is set to open his senior campaign at Blair Academy in Blairstown.
The 250-pound center averaged 13.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game while in the Adidas 3SSB Circuit over the summer. Awaka shot at a 57% clip in the league and is a natural defender while using his size to his advantage. He has a comparable build to Florida center Rueben Chinyelu, who stands at 6-foot-10, 265 pounds.
Awaka is the younger brother of 2025-26 Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year Tobe Awaka. The former Arizona forward tallied the eighth-most rebounds in the country (353) before signing a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls in July.
Florida’s most recent commit marks the second signee for the program thus far. Awaka will bring a major presence at the rim and fill a foreboding hole that 2027 may leave the club with.
“I’m ready to get them another ‘chip,” Awaka said.
