Back in the Spring of Things
Jan. 5, 2016As the Spring semester kicked off Tuesday, a cold winter day brought with it yet another reason to quickly get to the next building. But a brisk, cloudy day didn’t stop students from getting back into the swing of things. Campus spurred back to life as students returned from Winter Break: Krishna Lunch, Turlington tabling and hammocks on the Plaza of the Americas. As far as students are concerned, Spring is here — even if the weather doesn’t agree yet.
Giving Thanks
Nov. 18, 2015It was the week before Thanksgiving, but several hundred UF students gave thanks Wednesday morning during the first-ever Grateful Gator Day. Students thanked about 30,000 UF donors on the Plaza of the Americas by writing about 1,000 handwritten orange cards, video-taping their Gator Chomps and posing for photos with a giant, polka-dotted "THANKS." The event served to make students aware of how much money people donate to the university, said Kevin Marfiak, a 23-year-old UF biology senior and Cicerone who helped plan the event.
