Pleasant Street has been a historic district since 1989, but 40 of the neighborhood's historic buildings have been demolished. Residents are worried that Pleasant Street, the city's oldest black residential area, may lose its historic status.

Vendors sold food, drinks and clothes, while tablers offered information about their organizations. The inaugural fall festival also featured face painting, a scavenger hunt and musical chairs with polka renditions of pop songs.
