Nathan Barkdull, a 20-year-old UF physics and math double major junior, holds a protest sign and chants Tuesday during the Protest for Blue Lights on Frat Row. Barkdull said he believes that Michael Murphy’s letter to the editor in response to the demand for more blue lights led to more people attending the protest.

“The letter to the editor was sort of a ridiculous slight to the protestors,” Barkdull said. He added that it was an attack on a group of people with good intentions.
