Dwight Jenkins, 59, and Cayley Buckner, 21-year-old UF English and natural resource conservation senior, dance Friday night during the opening of the “A Walk in the Park” exhibition. Jenkins and Buckner are both members of the Gainesville Old-Time Dance Society, a local community for contra dancing. Contra dancing is a type of social dance where people can attend alone and find a partner at the event. “I hated dancing before I found contra,” said Buckner, who has been dancing for about four years. “I was the kid who would sneak off to the library and read during school dances.”
