Taking advantage of cold night shelter services provided by St. Francis House, Ron Hamer, 64, brings his belongings inside for the evening. Hamer has been living on the streets of Gainesville for the last three weeks and is currently trying to save money for an apartment. In the past, Hamer received medical assistance for management of pain due to spinal stenosis and found himself addicted to the opioids used in his treatment. He is proud to say that he has been clean for the past six years.
