Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Alachua County saw it’s largest one-day jump in COVID-19 cases today. 

Fourteen new cases — all of whom are Florida residents — were reported. There are now a total of 167 cases in the county, according to the Florida Department of Health:

  • 42-year-old female 

  • 30-year-old female 

  • 70-year-old male 

  • 31-year-old male 

  • 19-year-old female 

  • 76-year-old male 

  • 92-year-old female 

  • 87-year-old male 

  • 27-year-old female 

  • 65-year-old male 

  • 89-year-old male 

  • 78-year-old female 

  • 60-year-old female 

  • 38-year-old female

No deaths have been reported in the county yet. With 127 cases confirmed today, Gainesville carries the most cases in Alachua County, according to the daily report. Meanwhile, there are nine cases in the city of Alachua, six in Newberry, five in Hawthorne, four in High Springs, three in Micanopy, two in Tioga, and one each in Archer and La Crosse. 

One additional case was reported at UF today — an employee within the College of Law — bringing the total to 34. 

Florida’s cases, which continue to soar, reached nearly 18,000 this evening. There are now a total of 419 deaths.
