The Gainesville Police Department is investigating a sexual battery that possibly occurred near campus Saturday after a woman was offered a ride by an unknown man.
According to a timely warning alert posted late Saturday night, a woman attempting to get a ride from Boardwalk Apartments at 2701 SW 13th St. at around 6:15 p.m. She was offered a ride by a man, who then allegedly took her to an unknown location and is accused of sexually battering her.
After the reported sexual battery, the suspect is accused of driving the woman to Publix Supermarket at 201 NW 13th St. where she exited the car, according to the alert.

He was driving a newer model dark blue Nissan Sedan, either a Sentra or Altima, and was last seen headed northbound on NW 13th Street from the Publix, according to the alert.
The investigation is ongoing, and GPD asks that anyone with information calls 352-955-1818 or texts keyword “GPDFL” with any tips to 274637 (CRIMES). Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 352-372-STOP (7867).
