Police are looking for a man accused of shooting an event coordinator during a rap concert early Sunday morning.

Jonathan Smith, a 46-year-old event coordinator also known as Jock Smooth, is accused of shooting the event coordinator at the Heart of the City Hookah Lounge, at 1221 E. University Ave., according to a Gainesville Police press release.

Smith pulled out a handgun and shot at the coordinator several times at about 1:30 a.m. during the Boosie Badazz concert, police said. The coordinator was shot once in the chest and was taken to a local hospital.

The coordinator is expected to live, police said.

Smith ran away through the large crowd before police could arrest him, the release said. Officers, including Chief Tony Jones, were monitoring the concert at the time of the shooting.

Concert attendees helped police make sure no one else was hurt, Jones said in the release.

Police are still looking for Smith to arrest him on a charge of attempted homicide. He is believed to be armed and dangerous, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 911 or Detective Tom Mullins at 352-393-7619 or call 352-372-STOP to remain anonymous.
