Two SFCC students, along with 6,000 other students from around the nation, will lobby Congress today to discuss environmental issues.
"We are trying to encourage Florida senators to take sustainability to heart," said Rachel Friedlander, an SFCC freshman.
This weekend marked the start of Power Shift 2007, a "national youth summit to solve the climate crisis," the organization's Web site stated.
Two students from SFCC, Tracey Chace and Friedlander, were able to attend the summit.
Chace, an SFCC sophomore, said this was the largest global-warming summit in the world.
On Saturday, students were able to attend panels of their choice.
Friedlander attended a workshop on bringing sustainability to campus and a workshop on renting solar panels.
"It's so amazing to see all of these students wanting to help the environment," Friedlander said.
