Disney Channel original movies you need to watch

My five favorite childhood memories are as follows- One: Going to the Outer Banks every summer with my family. Two: Boating almost every weekend for years at my grandpa’s house. Three: When I was FINALLY tall enough to ride the “big kid roller coasters” (AKA the ones you have to be 54 inches for). Four: When I decided who my future husband was each year of elementary school. (This really only made the list because I find it hilarious how stupid I once was.) Five: Watching Disney channel original movies. Yes, they’re all good memories, but if I’m being honest, watching Disney channel original movies is really what sticks out in my head. I watched those movies for years, and that one Friday every other month when a new one aired was the absolute best. And I know I’m not alone; those Fridays were great for a lot of us. So, let’s talk about the five Disney movies you need to rewatch ASAP.

  1. Smart House-I’ll admit I’m particularly partial to this movie because I thought that house was the coolest thing ever when I first saw the movie, but that’s not even why I’m including it on the list. You should watch it again because we’re so much closer to actually building a house that can do those things. It’s really cool to think that in another 15-20 years, there might be houses for sale like smart house.
  2. Get A Clue- Reason number one to watch it- It’s Lindsay Lohan before she goes crazy, and there’s something nice about remembering the way people used to be, especially her. (As a child, I was a die-hard "Parent Trap" fan.) I love it because she and Jack solve the mystery of their teacher’s death long before anyone else can. It’s amazing that two high schoolers are able to beat the cops, private investigators and pretty much every adult. It signifies victory for young people everywhere- something that we should appreciate as college students. And if that doesn’t do it for you, think about how cool it is to be a reporter who gets to investigate a New York City murder.
  3. Zenon: Z3- All of the Zenon movies are amazing, but "Zenon: Z3", the third one, is awesome for a few reasons. First off, Zenon is a bad-ass for attempting to save the moon. Secondly, the entire premise of the movie, saving the moon, is so cool. I always truly believed that Zenon’s issues would be the real issues people face in 2054. Now, I’m not so sure, but I still hold out hope.
  4. Right on Track- It’s based on the true story of the drag-racing Ender sisters, who are two strong women that empowered me and hopefully you too. They have to learn to balance all aspects of their lives, including school, friends, racing and other athletics, which they eventually do, so it serves as a good life lesson. And both girls are great role models for little girls and women everywhere.
  5. The Even Stevens Movie- It’s definitely one of the greats because it features one of our favorite Disney families- the Stevens. Perfect Ren and out-there Louis were the funniest siblings, and of course, we can’t forget Donny. You basically can’t stop laughing, so if you’re up for a laugh, this is the one to watch.
