One day after landing blue-chip five-star offensive line recruit Maxwell Hiller, Florida football earned a commitment from one of the top quarterback recruits in the 2027 class, Davin Davidson.
The four-star signal caller from Sarasota, Florida, announced his commitment to Florida on a YouTube Live Stream Thursday night. He chose the Gators over Kentucky, Auburn and Georgia.
"The biggest factors going into the decision are relationships with the coaches, development plan, and winning games," Davidson said.
With his commitment, Davidson becomes the fifth 2027 recruit to commit to Florida, joining cornerback Amari Nugent, tight end Jackson Ballinger, wide receiver Tramond Collins and the aforementioned Hiller.
In 2025, his first year as a starter at Cardinal Mooney High School, Davidson led the Cougars to a 14-1 record and a Florida 2A state title. He completed 64.7% of his passes for 2,392 yards, 23 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He also added 81 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground.
Davidson, who stands over 6-foot-6 and weighs 215 pounds, earned "Alpha Dog" honors at the Elite 11 Regional in Miami in mid-January, and he is set to attend the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles. Davidson also attended Florida's Junior Day and was officially offered by the Gators Jan. 24.
With his strong play and standout performances around camps nationwide, Davidson has skyrocketed up recruiting boards. He now ranks as the No. 155 overall recruit and No. 13 quarterback recruit in the 2027 Class, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Davidson is set to join a talented Florida quarterback group that includes redshirt sophomore Aaron Philo, redshirt freshman Tramell Jones Jr. and true freshman Will Griffin, all of whom were highly-touted recruits themselves.
