As the Gators prepare to host No. 17 Georgia on Thursday, they will hope to keep Bulldogs coach Andy Landers from a milestone.
Landers, a member of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, will be going for his 700th win as a Bulldog.
"I really haven't thought about it at all," he said during the Southeastern Conference teleconference Tuesday. "It's a number that's bound to happen sooner or later, because we have been blessed to have a lot of good basketball players."
Landers has coached at Georgia since 1979 after spending four years as the coach at Roane State.
PRANK CALLS DISRUPT TELECONFERENCE: A teleconference between SEC coaches and members of the media was disrupted by prank calls Tuesday. The callers got patched into the call by posing as members of the media and asked inappropriate questions to multiple coaches.
Arkansas coach Tom Collen was the biggest victim, as he got two such questions in a row.
"During a game, did you ever shit your pants?" one of the callers asked Collen.
Needless to say, the caller was disconnected - and Collen answered no in case you were wondering.
BUBBLE WATCH: It's never too early to start thinking about the NCAA Tournament. With 11 games left, the Gators (13-5, 2-1 SEC) have an RPI ranking of 41 according to the Collegiate Basketball News. UF, currently fourth in the SEC, last made the field of 64 two years ago as a number six seed but got blown out in the first round by 11th-seeded New Mexico 83-59. UF coach Amanda Butler acknowledged occasionally discussing the postseason with her team.
"We've talked about championship expectations since the beginning of the season, and that's part of championship expectations - being part of the NCAA championships," Butler said. "It's not something we talk about daily. However, they know that's the goal."
