With temperatures set to dip close to freezing Monday and Tuesday night, Gainesville has activated its Cold Night Shelter Program, the city announced via a press release and on social media.

The program will remain in effect until overnight low temperatures rise above 45 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to rise back up going into Thursday, with the low that day being 46 degrees. For the next two days, however, the lows are in the 30s.

St. Francis House, a homeless shelter located in downtown Gainesville, and GRACE Marketplace, a shelter in northeast Gainesville, will provide temporary accommodations for those in need on both nights.

The shelter primarily serves families, women and children, with GRACE predominantly serving adults.

The CNS program typically runs from Nov. 1 to March 31. It most recently went into effect Oct. 30 and Oct. 31.
