I am writing in response to Thursday's column "RTS drivers should be more punctual." Perhaps Stephanie Rosenberg should sit on a bus for 12 hours straight and see how she feels when, while trying to eat lunch, she has students like herself start whining because the driver is doing something during "their time." Some Regional Transit System drivers spend more than 12 hours on a bus every day, and the least we students can do is have an ounce of compassion. They need to use the bathrooms, they need to stretch and, Heaven forbid, they need to eat.

You waited for a bus "that never showed" for 30 minutes? Try getting to the stop at least five minutes before the scheduled time. Bus drivers are given five minutes on either side of the time listed, so if the bus is supposed to be there at 1:30, don't run to the bus stop at 1:29 and get upset when it doesn't come.

There is also this thing called traffic, and here, we have plenty of it.

You know, 50,000 students at UF don't teleport themselves to class, so don't be upset when a bus designed for 45 sitting passengers and 25 standing is filled with a few more. How would you feel if it were you standing outside in the Florida sun when the bus runs by? Get over your obsession with personal space, fill every seat and relax. The ride is only 20 minutes; you can survive that long.

Or, you can just walk to campus. It is so much more environmentally friendly than those big, fat, slow buses.
