The first full week of February welcomes a host of musicians, from a Taiwanese ukulelist to a Canadian alternative pop singer. Check out all the music happenings this week starting Feb. 2.

Monday, Feb. 2

Solstice Reed Quintet - UF School of Music | 5:10 p.m. 

The guest artist recital presents the woodwind group on its Florida tour. 

Salvation the Punk Rock Show - Civic Media Center | 5:30 p.m. 

Hosted by Leigh from WGOT 100.1 FM, the CMC hosts its weekly live show. 

Feng E - Heartwood Soundstage | 7 p.m.

The internationally recognized musician, featured on America’s Got Talent, Asia’s Got Talent and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, is an 18-year-old ukulele player from Taiwan. 

Open Mic Night - The Bull | 7 p.m. 

Sign-ups start at 6 p.m. for the event held every Monday.

Insignificant Other, Love Hut, Mouthfeel and Ch3rry Stardust - The Ox | 8 p.m. 

Circus power pop band Insignificant Other plays the Respite Events show with Love Hut, Mouthfeel and Ch3rry Stardust.

The Hogtown Rounders - Lightnin’ Salvage Enterprises | 6 p.m.

The gift shop, bar and live music venue hosts the first live music event of February. 

TC Silk, Ian Frandsen, Creator Eornom and *kllevv - The Ox | 7 p.m.

Jamaican American rapper TC Silk and Ian Frandsen of emo group Milkbong embark on their “Welcome to Florida Tour,” with Creator Eornom and *kllevv. 

Jazzology - The Bull | 9 p.m. 

Gainesville’s longest-standing weekly jazz night is free to the public. 

Wednesday, Feb. 4

Open Mic Night - Lightnin’ Salvage Enterprises | 6 p.m.

LSE holds Gainesville’s longest-running open mic night the first Wednesday of every month. 

Johnny Mullenax with Noah Moses - Heartwood Soundstage | 6 p.m.

Funky country bluegrass artist Johnny Mullenax is joined by the frontman of Noah Moses and the Flood. 

Gnomes of Neptune, Inner View, Dense Blazing Star and Dude, Chill - The Gnome Home | 7 p.m.

The Gnomes welcome dream pop/psychedelic rock project INNER VIEW from Nashville, joined by local bands Dense Blazing Star and Dude, Chill. Message @neptunegnv on Instagram for the address.

Melissa Milford - UF School of Music | 5:10 p.m. 

The UF School of Music presents the rescheduled event with violist Melissa Milford. 

Conor Churchill - Lightnin’ Salvage Enterprises | 6 p.m. 

The Tallahassee-based songwriter performs his folk roots rock music. 

Marine Corps Band - UF School of Music | 7:20 p.m. 

The UF School of Music presents the Marine Corps Band.

The Florida Underground - Civic Media Center | 7:30 p.m. 

Brianna from WGOT 100.1 FM hosts the weekly show.

Oceanic with Jupiter Bloom and Alcove - Heartwood Soundstage | 8 p.m. 

Charlotte-based indie pop band is joined by local indie alternative group Alcove and Tampa classic indie rock band Jupiter Bloom. 

Petty Theft, 18th Lane and The Liszt - Signal | 8:30 p.m.

Glory Days Presents hosts several Florida indie bands. 

Friday, Feb. 6

Low Brass Studio Recital - UF School of Music | 5:10 p.m. 

The UF School of Music hosts the studio of Danielle VanTuinen.

The Browns - Lightnin’ Salvage Enterprises | 6 p.m. 

LSE hosts the Motown, soul, blues, R&B and jazz band.

The Couch Messiahs - One Love Cafe | 6 p.m. 

The band has been playing for the past 17 years and explores Americana roots, R&B, country and alternative music. 

Jazz Life - Munecas | 7 p.m.

The restaurant holds the event the second and fourth Friday of every month. 

Deadface, Sandcrawler, Immateria and Ashen Hills - The Ox | 7 p.m. 

Hardcore and metal bands play the Respite Events show for Ashen Hills’ EP release. 

Textures & Tones Indie Night - Loosey’s Downtown | 8 p.m. 

Join Shy Blossom, Mouthfeel, Bella on Bass and Light Ages for a night of indie, folk, alternative, rock and ethereal music. 

Malibu Nights - The Backyard at Boca Fiesta and Palomino Pool Hall | 9 p.m. 

The weekly 21 and over dance night includes Latin, hip hop and Afrobeats music.  

Pop Punk Emo Night - Signal | 9 p.m.

PunkNites and Glory Days Presents host the pre-Valentine’s Day ball, with hours of DJ sets and a live performance by Lifted Riffs. 

Saturday, Feb. 7

UF Guitar Extravaganza - UF School of Music | 10 a.m.

The international festival and competition will host a masterclass until 11:30 a.m., with Flavius Wagner and Marco Sarto playing a guest concert at 7:30 p.m.

The Blank Experiment - Harn Museum of Art | 1 p.m.

Nine student composers from the UF School of Music perform, inspired by Harn's upcoming “Florida in the Frame” exhibit. 

The Shambles - One Love Cafe | 6 p.m. 

The rock ‘n’ roll dance band play genres from classic rock to cosmic country music.

The Janzen Boys - Lightnin’ Salvage Enterprises | 6 p.m.

From Winnipeg, Canada, The Janzen Boys are a harmony-driven folk roots family band. 

Bella Larson & the Scene Kids, Dumpster, Broken Joints and Owen Adamcik - The Gnome Home | 7 p.m.

Minneapolis-based Bella Larson & the Scene Kids is joined by Orlando’s Owen Adamcik and local artists Broken Joints and Dumpster. Message @neptunegnv on Instagram for the address. 

Myles Bullen, Purple Kloud and Don’t Tell A Soul - Civic Media Center | 7 p.m.

Myles Bullen, rapper and folk punk poet from Maine, performs with Gainesville’s Purple Kloud and Tallahassee duo Don’t Tell a Soul. 

You Vandal, Robots Prevail and Oh Ya and the You Betchas - Geeks | 7 p.m. 

Pop punk bands play the free, all-ages show. 

Randall King and Kylie Frey - Heartwood Soundstage | 8 p.m.

Country musician and Texas native stops in Gainesville on his “The Big Deal Tour,” accompanied by Louisiana-based country singer Kylie Frey. 

Vzulize and Cathluina - The Bull | 9 p.m. 

Jazz fusion group Vzulize and alternative folk band Cathluina play their first show at The Bull as residents and will play the first Saturday of every month. 

Sunday, Feb. 8

UF Guitar Extravaganza - UF School of Music | 10 a.m.

The second day of the international festival and competition will host a masterclass until 11:30 a.m., the competition finals at 3 p.m. and a guest concert with Gabriel Franco at 7:30 p.m.

The Music of Mardi Gras - Meizon Church | 2 p.m.

The Gainesville Big Band presents a show of jazz and brass music celebrating the sounds of New Orleans. 

Reverend Horton Heat - Heartwood Soundstage | 7 p.m.

The rockabilly band celebrated 40 years in January. 

Kaili Kinnon and Thomas Allain - The Bull | 7 p.m.

Join Toronto-born Kaili Kinnon, a smoky alternative pop musician, and local songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Thomas Allain for a night of soulful, honest music, presented by The Listening Room. 

Dana, TVA, Gnats and Control Freak - The Atlantic | 8 p.m.

Ohio grungy punk band Dana is joined by TVA, Gnats and Control Freak at The Roadhouse event.
